The Virtues of Aging (Library of Contemporary Thought)
I would normally avoid a book with a title like this, but a 50c, in the garage sale, it was a bargain. It is also one of the few books that I have actually finished. It is easy to read and full of great advice and quotes and definitely not just for the elderly. He sounds like a very trustworthy human sort of a guy - maybe he ought to run for President! Here is an extract, about a softball league in Florida: "The pitcher was eighty and had to take eleven pills a day to control his arthritis. Recently they forced the retirement of one of their ninety-year-old teammates because the ball, which he could no longer see, frequently hit him. He took up lawn bowling. Their left fielder was eighty-three, and the youngest player was sixty-nine. There were frequent dropped balls, bruises and sore muscles, but the men could hardly wait each year for the next season to begin."
